A Healthy New Year

HEALTHY NEW YEAR
By Jo Francks MH

On the day after New Years I woke with a start
I stumbled to the bathroom, it was no longer dark
I stepped on the scale, oh no, it won’t stop!
Up five pounds, no ten, fifteen, what a crock!
The memories are all coming back to me now
We got fudge and divinity, cookies and pie
All kinds of goodies from neighbors coming by
It all looks so good I’ll have just a taste
I surely don’t want it to go to my waste
But a taste’s not enough, I have to have more
I sampled, I sipped and tasted galore
And now what can I do after such celebration
I’ve got a bad headache and should I mention constipation
What were the words from David Christopher now?
For all of these problems USE LOWER BOWEL!!
But where is my bottle, nowhere to be found
And now I remember there was someone at work
Who didn’t have theirs and he was all bound
For class in a hurry so I gave him mine
Oh yes it was Jesse
And now all I have are some fruits and a veggie
Let’s not forget all the grains have I many
All stacked in my basement in buckets a plenty
I’ll soak them I’ll sprout them and then I’ll low heat them
And my family will love me when I make them all eat them
I’ll make some fresh juice and a green smoothie knowing
Whole grains nuts and seeds will all get me going
With two feet of snow on the ground and more falling
Jogging is out but my cellercizer’s calling
Exercise yes it’s a must for good health
A good attitude too, all this will help
I’m on a good path to making things better
And I won’t forget to drink lots of water

Healthy New Year to you and to me too!

Holiday Flax crackers

The latest in the flax cracker mania for me is Cranberry orange and gingerbread. I wanted a treat to gve to my healthy minded friends.  While still in the dehydrator, they smell fantastic and I can't wait to try them.  If interested, here are the instructions.

Cranberry Orange Flax crackers
Soak 1 cup golden flax, ½ cup sunflower seeds, ½ cup buckwheat, and ¼ cup chia seeds in a lot of water. For about 4 hours.  Drain excess water. Put 1 1/2 cups of this mixture in the blender with ¼ cup frozen orange juice concentrate. Blend until smooth. In a food processor process 1 cup fresh cranberries and 2 oranges that have been peeled and sectioned.  Mix all together and add ¼ cup agave. Add 1/8 cup more of orange juice concentrate.  When it's all mixed well together spread on teflex sheets of the dehydrator trays and dehydrate until the top feels dry enough to flip, about 6 hours,  flip over and remove teflex and continue to dehydrate until dry.

Gingerbread Flax Crackers
Soak 1 1/2 cups golden flax in water for 4 hours. Drain excess liquid if needed. Add ½ cup ground flax seed, Mix well and add ¼ cup agave and 2 tbs blackstrap molasses, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ginger, and ½ tsp cloves.  When it's all mixed well together spread on teflex sheets of the dehydrator trays and dehydrate until the top feels dry enough to flip, about 6 hours,  flip over and remove teflex and continue to dehydrate until dry.

Tumor

This week I have been treating our dog Sue. She has a tumor just below her right jaw on the right side. Tuesday I started treating it with an herbal tea. I squirted the tea on the tumor and put some in her mouth and in her ear on that side twice a day. Saturday morning I treated it and it seamed a little bigger. That night my daughter came in and told us that Sue's tumor was gone and that there was blood coming out of the skin. We all ran out and looked at it, and sure enough the tumor was gone and it was draining. The skin was still saggy, but there was no mass where the tumor was. The tumor was larger than a ping pong ball but smaller than a tennis ball Tuesday when we started using the tea. Saturday morning when I treated it, it felt larger than it had before. The same thing happened when we were treating our golden retriever who had tumors on her back. We used the same tea and poured it on the tumors and they got bigger then went flat and turned black and crusty. The vet pulled the hard black thing off and there was a red spot with a white dot in the middle. He said "This is cancer. take her home and enjoy her." I told him that it had started as a lump the size of a ping pong ball and I had been putting herbal tea on it and this is where it is now. He said maybe we're on to something but wasn't really interested in what kind of treatment I did. So I will keep treating Sue with the herbal tea and any other treatments I feel she might need and see what happens from here.

Tumor Update

To update Sue's condition. She has completely healed and is a healthy happy dog. I quit the tea for about a week when I felt she was well. There was still a little patch of skin that was black about 1/4 inch wide that hadn't quite healed over yet. She started getting a bump the size of a marble in the same place. We started with the same treatment and stuck with it for about 3 weeks. The bump disappeared in a couple of days. I check her neck in the same place regularly and nothing has reappeared.
